MEZCAL OF THE MONTH
September | Union UNO Mezcal
$6 for a one ounce pour $11 for a two ounce pour
Union UNO is a great intro to Mezcal if you’ve never tried the spirit before. It’s produced in Oaxaca, Mexico and is distilled from two different varietals of agave: Espadin and Cirial. It takes between eight and fourteen years for those agaves to be ready to harvest.
Tasting Notes: vanilla, apple, and pear notes that the espadin agave contributes. Finally, Union Uno is rounded out by an earthy, citrusy and herbaceous finish thanks to the cirial agave. This blend of agaves gives Union Uno a unique but balanced flavor. You’ll get smokiness right up front, which comes from the slow roasting process the agave goes through before being fermented naturally and distilled.
Union Uno is a fantastic mezcal for mixing, but it’s smooth and balanced enough to enjoy on its own. We love serving it with a tajin salt rim and a nice juicy slice of fresh orange.
